Climb Every Mountain.......

Ok, I am completely exhausted from M's birthday party yesterday. I must be getting old....lol

So, I'm going through all the birthday photos and the rest of the photo's I've taken this week, when I realized I never posted about M's Rock Climbing!

Since the older two both go to sleep away Boyscout and Girlscout sleep away Camp, I found some really cool beginner clinics at our local YMCA for the Kindergartner to do this summer. The one that just finished up was rock wall climbing!

Every afternoon, they would begin by stretching....

Then they learned about to put on a harness..... safety first!

Before tackling the rock wall, they began by learning how to climb to ropes....

It was intimidating at first,
but my little guy is brave..... when he sets his mind to something, there is no stopping him!

Sure enough, he got the hang of it!

By the end of the first day, there was no stopping him on the ropes!

The rock wall, on the other hand, did not come so easily...

He worked on it all week, but just couldn't get to the top. Finally, it was the final day of the clinic. The boys started with climbing the ropes, and then took a quick pizza party break before trying the rock wall for the final time.

M was, by far, the youngest child in the class. Those two boys he's eating pizza with are two years older than he is.

Finally, it was time to harness up and get ready to face the rock wall for a final showdown....

I'm so proud of M. He was a picture of determination.

He never gave up and said it was too hard...

and boy, did he have a big smile when he reached the TOP!

He made my Mama heart proud! Baby sister was pretty proud too, I think!

His ribbon, and framed participation certificate, are up on the wall of his room. The first of many, I'm sure!

Awesome! What a proud moment! The thought of climbing that high makes my tummy flip, but good for him!

I know you both were really proud. Completing something difficult like that really gives them a sense of accomplishment. He's a cutie and the pictures are too!
