Well Hi there, Nice to meet you!

I'm Lindsay.... Mommy2Four! I've been toying with the idea of starting up a blog for a while now. Our lives are so full, and usually....fun! Parenting four kids with such a wide range of ages is a challenge. We've got teenage angst and potty training coming at us at the same time! The thing is, my youngest, S, has taught me so much about life in the past two years, and about focusing on the blessings instead of the struggles. Hence, the name of this blog.....

You see, there's an old Zen parable that tells the story of a man traveling across a field. All of a sudden, a tiger begins to chase him. With nowhere to go, he jumps from the edge of a cliff, and catches himself on a vine. As he looks down, he see's a second tiger waiting to eat him at the bottom. He looks at the vine that his suspending him, and sees two mice chewing away at it. With a tiger above him, and a tiger below him, he notices off to the side, a single strawberry growing. He picks it, and eats it, and it never had tasted as sweet!

So, that's where the title, and my outlook on life, came from. Looking for strawberries, and appreciating them for all their sweetness! It's only through the tough things in life, that we come to fully appreciate the blessings. My youngest, S, was born with a severe cleft lip and palate. It's been quite the journey with her, and one that will continue until she is fully grown. While I would never wish this path on anyone, it's only through what I've been through with her, that I've fully come to appreciate everything in my life. It's like in the story......the strawberry gets it's sweetness because of the struggle. No Cliff, No Tigers, - No Sweetness.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy reading! I take lots of pictures, and will be sharing lots of them. This blog isn't just going to be about our medical struggles with Sierra. This is going to be a place where I can document our lives, our happiness, our struggles, and the little things day to day that give our lives meaning. The funny things the kids say and do, and the life lessons I learn that I don't want to forget!

Thanks for Reading!

What a beautiful story. It's amazing what the surgeons were able to do for your baby. I love how you describe your children. My daughter has semi-diagnosed ADHD and has been a struggle from day one but she is so wonderful and funny she makes me laugh (even when I'm not suppose to laugh). Her therapist diagnosed her but she was doing well in school. Now that she's having problems in school I can finally get something done (isnt that sad?).

Hi, I wandered over from the Blog Frog community blog follow post. I've been here before and I'm wondering how I lost track of you because I totally meant to KEEP TRACK of your blog. LOL! I'm following with GFC, but I don't see a way to subscribe. Am I just missing it? This happens to me a lot with Blogger blogs - I want to subscribe but can't figure out how! Anyway, welcome to the blogging world. I'm a newbie too. I started in November '09.
